چکیده
Promoting cropland carbon (C) sequestration through straw return has always been the focus of numerous studies. However, there is still a lack comprehensive understanding effects on soil organic (SOC) and inorganic (SIC) sequestration. Therefore, present study aims to investigate long-term SOC SIC across 0–100 cm profile in maize planting Northeastern China. The results showed an increasing trend contents following return, while significant decreases were observed surface (0–20 cm) subsoil (20–60 layers, respectively. In addition, stock increased significantly layer by average value 44%, which higher than those other layers. On hand, 24% decreased under-subsoil layers values 53% 33%, Moreover, exchangeable calcium positively correlated with stock, demonstrating contributes highlighted importance for effective strategies promote croplands.

Soil organic carbon sequestration potential of cropland in China
[1] Soil organic carbon (SOC) in cropland is of great importance to the global carbon (C) balance and to agricultural productivity, but it is highly sensitive to human activities such as irrigation and crop rotation. It has been observed that under certain improved management practices, cropland soils can sequestrate additional C beyond their existing SOC level before reaching the C saturation ...
متن کاملDynamics of soil organic and inorganic carbon in the cropland of upper Yellow River Delta, China
Soil inorganic carbon (SIC) and organic carbon (SOC) are important carbon reservoirs in terrestrial ecosystems. However, little attention was paid to SIC dynamics in cropland. We conducted a survey in the upper Yellow River Delta of North China Plain. We collected 155 soil samples from 31 profiles, and measured SOC, SIC and soluble Ca2+ and Mg2+ contents. Our results showed that mean SOC conten...
متن کاملRelative contribution of maize and external manure amendment to soil carbon sequestration in a long-term intensive maize cropping system
We aimed to quantify the relative contributions of plant residue and organic manure to soil carbon sequestration. Using a 27-year-long inorganic fertilizer and manure amendment experiment in a maize (Zea mays L.) double-cropping system, we quantified changes in harvestable maize biomass and soil organic carbon stocks (0-20 cm depth) between 1986-2012. By employing natural (13)C tracing techniqu...
متن کاملSoil Organic Carbon Sequestration in Reclaimed Minesoils
Land disturbance during mining results in loss of soil organic carbon (SOC). Reclamation of minelands can lead to recuperation and sequestration of SOC. The SOC thus accumulated, not only replenishes SOC losses but may also offset additional carbon di-oxide (CO2) emission. The assessment of the above was done on a chronosequence of reclaimed minesoils comprising pasture with topsoil application...
متن کاملEffects of Long Term Application of Inorganic and Organic Fertilizers on Soil Organic Carbon and Physical Properties in Maize–Wheat Rotation
Balanced and integrated use of organic and inorganic fertilizers may enhance the accumulation of soil organic matter and improves soil physical properties. A field experiment having randomized complete block design with four replications was conducted for 36 years at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, India to assess the effects of inorganic fertilizers and farmyard manure (FYM) on...
